Welcome to Creative Kid Science. I have looked forward to the beginning of this class since last spring, designing it specifically for kids who learn best when they’re moving or touching something. More specifically, I designed it for my son and for others like him who would not thrive in a textbook driven class.
Which doesn’t mean that this class won’t be textbook-guided. Or that there won’t be any writing. We’ll introduce both these skills, but more in the fashion of the frog in the pot. We won’t even feel the pain as we slowly turn up the heat.
Per textbooks…Over the summer I gleaned experiments from magazines and library books. I carried science books under my arm on camping trips and stacked them in the car as spare reading, digging always for the best ideas to share with our kids. Most recently, I bought two science books, books I had checked out so many times that it was becoming more affordable to own them outright.
Most importantly, though, I have prayed over our kids. Prayed over this class. Prayed that the material we cover will stretch our kids and that their experiences in this class will be ones we can all look back on with great enthusiasm.
Blessings to each of you as we learn science together!
